In 1997, Premier Tony Rundle launched the Tasmanian Information Technology & Telecommunication Industry Development Association. TasIT. The following year, after developing a constitution the organisation became registered. Guided by its first President Peter Minck, the ICT Industry’s Peak Industry Body was formed in 1998. Since then, we’ve had a formal channel for the Government to consult with the industry. In addition, the Information, Communication & Technology sector gained a strong advocate and a loud voice. In 2023 it’s time to celebrate with our 25th Anniversary Cocktail Party.
Throughout the years, government grants underpinned many industry projects and programmes. That helped us to prosper and grow, as membership also increased. Today, TasICT is an independent organisation funded by member subscriptions and corporate sponsorships, and no longer relies on Government funding – that’s worth celebrating!
Bringing together technology businesses of all sizes is the secret to our success. Consequently, TasICT networking events have provided industry colleagues an opportunity to come together to discuss issues and opportunities. So, it makes sense that we celebrate our 25th Anniversary with a networking event!
The Franklin Wharf Function Centre overlooks the Derwent River, setting the scene for a memorable evening. The TasICT 25th Anniversary Cocktail Party celebrates what we have achieved and focuses on the future of our industry. We will honour the many hard-working volunteers who have served a President through the years as well as the current Committee. Minister for Science & Technology Madeleine Ogilvie will join TasICT President Martin Anderson in marking the quarter of a century milestone.
