Premier’s Advisory Council seeks TasICT advice on impacts of COVID-19

Premier Peter Gutwein has established an Economic and Social Recovery Advisory Council (PESRAC). The Council is tasked with providing advice and recommendations on how to best mitigate the economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and identifying opportunities for economic and social renewal. The Council’s starting perspective is that community-led recovery is key, and needs to be well-informed about the threats and opportunities presented by COVID-19 by engaging broadly with Tasmanians – individuals, communities and their representatives and the businesses sector. The Council’s first task is to provide advice to the Premier by July 2020 on the status of the challenges and issues that Tasmania faces due to COVID-19, and potential immediate actions and initiatives. PESRAC is seeking input from TasICT to generate a picture of the economic and social impacts of COVID-19. TasICT would like to hear from you regarding the current and anticipated impacts on you and your business. We would also like your feedback on the factors which are likely to shape medium & long term impacts and the nature and magnitude of those impacts. TasICT intends to also report to PESRAC on what mitigation measures are currently in place, and which impacts are not being mitigated. It’s important for the Advisory Council to know which responses should be stopped, which ones should continue and what should be started. TasICT intends to pass on advice on how to build business confidence and what can be done to grow employment and re-employment levels. Please let TasICT know your thoughts as a matter of urgency to allow us to notify PESRAC of the issues facing you, your business and community.
